A very, very small improvement over the first.
At this point, this is to be expected. I wasn’t expecting anything great, but there’s still a part of me that when I see a movie like this, that it does have the potential to be better! The movie’s bigger problem is with its script. One could say AI wrote it, but I’d say that the dialogue was written in the mid-2000’s. The dialogue is so cringey and unthoughtful of making anything smarter. I don’t mind stupid humor. I love stupid humor. But this just makes me uncomfortable.
While the movie attempts to be fun with its action and locations, and Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston’s chemistry is nice, it’s also way too rushed with an 80-minute runtime, excluding the credits. Even the ending dragged on for no reason, because it ended up becoming a weird cliffhanger that didn’t feel needed. Felt more like something that I would have written in elementary school, because the teacher told me it needed to be a few pages longer.
It’s crazy how a little over three years ago, Sandler gave one of the best best performances of his career and went back to doing these types of films. Even last year, he had a great performance that hit Netflix! At least he seems to be enjoying himself while making money. At this point, have to put respect on it. If he’s happy, then I am happy.
VERDICT: 1.5/5 (Pretty bad)
