“Tetris” Review

Apple TV+ has been providing the goods for a while now. Beside HBO Max, this is probably the only other streaming service that I try to consistently watch whatever comes out, or least try to – good or bad. Sometimes you get a hidden gem (“Shrinking”, “Ted Lasso”) or a sinker (“Extrapolations”, “Liaison”), but sometimes you get something that is somewhere in the middle that puts it above the average that continues to make the streaming service worth it – like this movie. If you like the idea behind this premise or just enjoy Taron Egerton’s performances, then I don’t think you’re going to regret your time with this one.

Immediately, I got “The Wolf of Wall Street” vibes. Egerton gives an energized performance that really drives you into what this is all about… Except that’s really what’s not going on. His character is really a guy who’s trying to take risks to better his family. It’s definitely personal and something I am sure other viewers will connect to. Besides that, I think the movie does a good job continuing to make this story relevant by showing viewers that something they may

I don’t know how much is really true versus fiction, but I did feel like the movie could get a little Hollywood and take aspects from films like “Argo.” It’s not a bad idea, but it can make the movie rather predictable at times.

Overall, it’s a good first watch. If you don’t already have Apple TV+ and you need something to push you into it, then take this as your sign. If you already have it, then you probably already know what I am talking about.

VERDICT: 3.5/5 (Pretty Good)
