“Nobody Wants This – Season 2” Review: The Show Finds Its Groove in a Stronger Second Season

All ten episodes of the second season of Nobody Want This are now streaming on Netflix. Created by Erin Foster, this season stars Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn. First comes love, then comes life. The last time we saw agnostic podcast host Joanne and unconventional rabbi Noah, their unmatched chemistry surprised everyone in their lives, including her sister Morgan, his brother Sasha and sister-in-law Esther, and even themselves. Their spark proved stronger than all of the obstacles trying to keep them apart. Now, they’re back and fully committed to merging their lives – and loved ones — together. But their differences still exist and can’t be ignored. The challenge now is not just falling in love against all odds, but staying together in spite of them.

The first season of Nobody Wants This was a pleasant surprise, with standout performances and a tone that resonated widely — so much so that Netflix quickly greenlit a second season. Now, just a year later, Season 2 arrives faster than most Netflix follow-ups. If this momentum continues, there’s every reason to believe we’ll be in for another great season this time next year.

With another ten-episode run, the show continues to deliver everything fans loved about the first season — and then some. It’s remarkably easy to binge thanks to its breezy tone, sharp humor, and relatable situations. Personally, I enjoyed this season even more than the first. It feels as though the creators listened to feedback and refined the series in all the right ways.

The season wastes no time diving deeper into Joanne and Noah’s relationship, avoiding the usual “will they, won’t they” trope entirely. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody remain pitch-perfect in their roles, their chemistry as electric as ever. If you’re a fan of this couple and wanted to see even more of them together, you’re in for a treat this season.

One of my issues with the first season was Justine Lupe’s portrayal of her character. It sometimes felt as though she was intentionally playing against type after Succession. This season, however, delves much deeper into her personality and relationships, offering some surprising revelations that make her behavior far more understandable and layered.

There’s something about this season that makes me want to rewatch it right away — a feeling I didn’t have with the first. From the situations to the humor to the guest appearances, everything feels more natural and unexpectedly delightful. By the time the finale rolled around, I found myself wishing there were more episodes. The show’s tone and charm reminded me a lot of classic sitcoms like New Girl. Even though it’s a streaming series, I couldn’t help but miss the days of 20-plus episode seasons.

This season maintains the same look and feel as the first but takes more creative risks with its camera work — moments that, for me, are far more memorable than anything from last season. The cinematography makes some bold visual choices, using framing and movement to subtly hint at where Joanne and Noah’s relationship is headed. It’s one of those things that’s better seen than explained.

While this season is undeniably stronger overall, the writing still feels a bit cautious at times, holding back both the story and its characters. Some plotlines tread familiar ground, and the ending, while somewhat reminiscent of the first season’s conclusion, also takes a bold swing that sets up an intriguing path forward. You can tell the show wants to take its time developing these relationships, but that slower pacing sometimes leads to scenarios that feel a little repetitive.

Overall, the second season of Nobody Wants This improves on the first with even funnier and more relatable moments. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody continue to shine with effortless, undeniable chemistry. While the season still feels a bit restrained at times — as if it’s deliberately pacing itself — it remains a strong, satisfying chapter that moves every character in the right direction.

VERDICT: 4/5 – GREAT
