“80 for Brady” Review

What makes this just a little more than average is how heartfelt and genuine it is with its four main characters.

I don’t care much about sports, so this isn’t something I have been excited to see (thank you Paramount+). What did get my interest though is seeing the cast and getting to see Lily Tomlin & Jane Fonda continuing their work together. It seemed like a good, mindless movie, and that’s exactly what it was.

I was a big fan of Grace and Frankie. It had a good run and was fun to watch. You can really see Tomlin’s & Fonda’s energy being brought here to make something fun for the viewers. The beginning has a strong start and allows the characters to have meaningful arcs that stick with the movie throughout. The last 30 minutes are also quite fun. Considering how slow the middle felt, I didn’t mind the cheesiness from what occurs during this time.

It’s really in the middle that the movie drags the most. It lacks personality and focuses so much that feels unrelated to the overall plot. While it has the potential to be fun and pack jokes in, it almost feel more like of a run to the finish line to what most viewers are probably more excited for.

Overall, if you have Paramount+ or enjoy the idea of the movie, then I think this is still worth your time.

VERDICT 3/5 (Good)
